The Australian Embassy in Nepal is focused on providing necessary services to citizens of Australia living in or visiting Nepal, as well as to Nepali people who wish to travel to Australia. The Visa Offices provide information about visa requirements for people wanting to enter into Australia or wanting to become a citizen of Australia. The Visa office also processes applications for visas and citizenship.
The Australian Embassy is involved with a 'Direct Aid Program' (DAP), which is focused on dealing with humanitarian hardships in selected countries. The goal of the DAP is also to grow the international relations Australia has and to advance public diplomacy objectives. The DA program is funded by the Australian Government and is controlled by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The Australian Development Scholarships program (ADS) provides an opportunity for people living in developing countries a chance to participate in full-time studies, whether it is undergraduate or postgraduate, in Australia. Each year up to one thousand Australian Development Scholarships are awarded to men and women living in one of the thirty-one countries that are part of this program.

French Embassy in Nepal
The French Embassy is located in the city of Kathmandu and provides vital Consular Services to the French residents in Nepal and to the French citizens that come to visit the country, as well as to Nepali residents who wish to travel to France. There is a long history between France and Nepal that has resulted in a strong relationship.
Evidence of French influence can be seen in historic attractions such as the National Museum of Nepal, which is also situated in Kathmandu. The museum, which was constructed in the 19th century, was built with the assistance of French engineers. Some of the valuable exhibits within the museum are testaments to the relations of the countries that are centuries old. On a trip to France, between 15 August 1850 to 10 October 1850, Prime Minister Jang Bahadur Rana was presented with a sword from Napoleon III and on 20 April 1949 relations between the two countries started to develop. One of the most memorable moments of this time, was the first time Annapurna was climbed by Louis Lachenal and Maurice Herzog. The French Embassy in Nepal was officially established in June 1967 and at the same time, Nepal opened an embassy in France.
The French Embassy maintains political relations with Nepal and represents France. They are responsible for working together with Nepal on various projects and initiatives, but also provide important services to the French citizens living in Nepal, as well as French tourists. Indian Embassy in Nepal
It is the responsibility of the Embassy of India in Nepal to maintain and strengthen the existing relations between India and Nepal. India and Nepal have had a long-standing relationship since the 1950 signing of the Treaty and Peace Agreement. It is a relationship that has been able to withstand political changes and economic difficulties.
The Indian Embassy in Nepal has been significant in the economy of Nepal, by promoting foreign investments, projects and business opportunities. India has also played a vital role in irrigation projects and assisting with establishing a stable infrastructure within Nepal. They are also responsible for providing Consular Services to citizens of India and tourists to Nepal.
Visa and passport applications can be done at the Indian Embassy in Nepal and visitors from Nepal can also apply for visas into India at the embassy. Tourist visas are valid from the date of issue, for six months and cannot be converted or extended. Transit visas cannot be used for tourism or visiting in India. Student visas, long-term visas and other visas can also be applied for at the India Embassy. Repeated applications for tourist visas will be turned away. Gratis Visas are available for nationals from Bangladesh, Mongolia, San Merino, South Africa, Jamaica, Afghanistan, Namibia, Poland, Hungary, Uruguay and Argentina. Embassy of the United Kingdom in Nepal
The Embassy of the United Kingdom in Nepal is located in Kathmandu. The purpose of the embassy of the United Kingdom, is to uphold and maintain relations with Nepal and to promote the United Kingdom within Nepal. To achieve these goals, the U.K. Embassy has been divided into four offices that each concentrate on their own individual tasks.
The divisions within the United Kingdom Embassy include: the Political Team that monitors and reports on the political status and situations in Nepal; the Consular and Visa Division that takes care of the interests of British citizens and travelers; and the Defense Division that maintains the defense relationship between Nepal and the United Kingdom. The Management Team takes on the responsibility of the staff at the embassy, the administration and financial aspects of the embassy and the maintenance of the embassy buildings.
The Consular Services provided by the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Nepal includes visa services, passport services, marriage documentation, birth registration, adoptions and emergency services. They advise all British citizens to obey the laws of Nepal, as they have very limited access and influence in regard to detainees or those who are arrested.

Embassy of the United States in Nepal
The goal of the United States Embassy is to promote peace and a democracy within Nepal. The United States Embassy also works to gain the support of the Nepali government in global issues. Together the countries work to fight terrorism, the control of drug trafficking and environmental protection. But first and foremost, the U.S. Embassy in Nepal serves to provide support in a number of areas to United States citizens.
The U.S. Embassy in Nepal is located in the city of Kathmandu, and has various divisions that focus on different aspects of the embassy’s mission. The Consular Services section is there to provide United States citizens information regarding the laws, culture, traditions, customs, destinations and safety advise. They are also able to assist in the renewal and application for passports and visas, voting from outside the United States, birth registration, adoptions, marriage in Nepal and emergency services. When looking at emergency services, the Embassy of the United States is able to provide listings of medical centers and doctors, assist during injury, death or illness, and during natural disasters or civil unrest. If an American citizen is detained or arrested the embassy can contact family and friends on the detainee’s behalf and recommend a lawyer at their own expense. The Embassy of the United States in not able to negotiate release, prison accommodation or participate in any matters relating to the courts.
