Strengthening literary bonds
Kathmandu: With an objective to enhance mutual understanding and friendly relations between academicians, writers, poets, scholars and intellectuals of Nepal and India as well as between these two countries, an effort has been initiated by India’s Sahitya Akedemi and Nepal Academy.
As per the press release issued on February 2, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed bu the Vice President of Sahitya Akademi, Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari and Vice Chancellor of Nepal Academy, Ganga Prasad Uprety at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi. The relationship between the countries has been amicable since ages and as per the MOU, this relationship will be enhanced through exchanges of delegations related to various literary and cultural issues, and translation of publication and literature on a reciprocal basis. The MOU has five articles with different clauses which talk about programmes, activities, execution of those programmes and agreement itself.
According to the Article II of MOU, their programmes include – to translate and publish books on language, literature, culture, philosophy and social sciences of both the countries and to organize seminars and symposium on language, literature, culture, social science etc at least once by two years. The article also mentions that these two organizations will carry exchange programmes for enhancing the relationship between the intellectuals and organizations related to language, literature and culture. As per the MOU, they will arrange for visits of intellectuals and academicians related to language, literature, culture, philosophy and social science of both the countries and promote creative literary works.

Monica on stands

The novel was launched on February 2 at Hotel De L’ Annapurna which was done by the dynamic duo Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya.
Neupane pursued her Bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College, US and MONICA is her debut novel. Although this is her first work, she has gathered numerous compliments. About the book Prabhat Rimal said, “Different from what I have read in the past. Reading through the lines, I did not get any feeling lines, I did not get any feeling that it has been written by a first timer. A suggested read for all youngsters not only from the point of crisp language and fashion but also as an inspiration to get going after a rough ride……
Artist Chirag Bangdel stated, “It is wonderful to see a book that is well crafted to suit the taste of our young readers.”
